AdapCC combines private and public resources in order to support smallholder farmers in their ability to cope with climatic risks. The contract of the Public-Private Partnership is agreed between the UK's Fairtrade Company Cafédirect and the German Technical Cooperation (GTZ). Both partners contribute their financial and technical resources and their worldwide networks to the project.

out Cafédirect is the UK's largest Fairtrade hot drinks company. It works with growers from 39 tea, coffee and cocoa grower organisations in 13 countries, ensuring that over a quarter of a million growers receive a sustainable income from trade. It's grower partners own shares in the company and sit on the Cafédirect board. As part of Cafédirect's Gold Standard Fairtrade policy, it reinvests on average 60% of its operating profits back into tailor-made support and training initiatives with the grower organisations.

out German Technical Cooperation (GTZ) was an international cooperation enterprise for sustainable development. Its corporate objective was to improve people's living conditions on a sustainable basis. GTZ was federally owned by the German government. They supported the out German Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ) and other international clients in achieving its development-policy objectives. GTZ worked on a public-benefit basis. All surpluses generated were channelled back into its own international cooperation projects. From 1 January 2011, the out Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ) GmbH was formed. It brings together the long-standing expertise of the Deutscher Entwicklungsdienst (DED) gGmbH (German development service), the Deutsche Gesellschaft für Technische Zusammenarbeit (GTZ) GmbH (German technical cooperation) and InWEnt – Capacity Building International, Germany. For further information, go to out www.giz.de.

Smallholder producers as the target group are the main partners of the project. They are involved in the important decisions at all stages of the project. The project is implemented by the PPP partners Cafédirect and GTZ with the support of Twin and Imani Development and many technical cooperation programs of GTZ. To review the project progress and to advise on important project decisions and relevant activities an Experts Committee is supervising the project implementation. AdapCC is also supported by scientific institutions at international and national level as well as by institutions of the international cooperation for development. AdapCC invites all interested parties to cooperate with the project activities.
